Page not indexed by Google: diagnose the cause
Not indexed has several possible causes. The specific reason determines whether you need a technical fix, better discovery or a content decision.
Inspect the exact URL
Use the published address in Search Console. Distinguish stored Google data from the current live test. Record inspection date, last crawl and reported reason.
Compare access and rules
Is the page public and showing expected content? Check unintended access restrictions, noindex and crawl rules. A successful browser visit alone is insufficient.
Assess canonical and redirects
An old redirected address need not remain indexed itself. A duplicate may legitimately have another canonical. Check intent before treating every excluded variant as an error.
Review discovery and value
Do relevant existing pages link to it? Does the sitemap contain the final URL? Identify the distinct question it answers. More nearly identical text is not a reliable indexing solution.
Verify after changes
Fix the established cause and record the result. A targeted indexing request may then be appropriate. Repeating requests without changes guarantees neither inclusion nor ranking; these are different outcomes.
