Digital Nomad Visa in Spain
Spain's international telework route is for qualifying non-EU remote workers and professionals serving foreign companies or clients. Employment history, company activity, income, qualifications, Social Security and remote-work permission must be documented.
Who qualifies as an international teleworker?
Employees generally work remotely for a foreign company, while professionals may perform a limited proportion of activity for Spanish clients within statutory rules.
The foreign company must have genuine prior activity and the work relationship must meet minimum duration and remote-performance conditions.
Employment, professional and company evidence
Applicants prove qualifications or professional experience, sufficient income, criminal-record compliance, health cover and lawful status.
Social Security may require Spanish registration or a valid coverage certificate under an applicable international agreement.
Documents and evidence
Contracts, employer letters, company registry and activity proof, payroll, bank records, qualifications and apostilled criminal records form the file.
Passport and lawful-status evidence
Employment or client contracts
Foreign company activity records
Income and qualification evidence
Criminal record, health and Social Security documents
Application, family and continuing compliance
Applications may be submitted through a Spanish consulate or, for qualifying lawful applicants in Spain, to the Large Companies and Strategic Groups Unit.
Family members can apply together when dependency and income requirements are met, and authorisations require continued compliance for renewal.
Deadlines, risks and individual strategy
A tourist entry does not permit work outside the authorised route, and payroll or tax assumptions should be reviewed before relocating.
Jurisdiction, personal circumstances and current administrative or court practice must be checked for every case. We prepare the Spanish file and coordinate the appropriate regulated specialist where representation is required.
Useful official resources
Official requirements, fees and procedures can change. The competent authority and current rules are checked for each individual case.
