Social Security debts: TGSS instalments in Spain
Unable to pay contributions on time? A TGSS instalment arrangement is a separate procedure with rules different from Hacienda tax deferral.
Compile all debts
Collect references, periods, principal, surcharges and procedural stage. Distinguish contribution debts from recovery of other benefits. A list of missed bank debits may not show every debt recorded by TGSS.
Not every component can be deferred
Employee contributions and occupational accident or disease contributions are among the excluded amounts. Rules changed in 2026, so do not rely uncritically on older tables of limits and security requirements. Plan the required payment route for non-deferrable components.
Plan security and affordable instalments
Security requirements depend on the legal conditions and application structure. Allow for ongoing contributions and interest as well as instalments. Do not treat the stated debt balance as the only cost without checking.
Application does not mean approval
Keep the full application and monitor evidence requests. An ordinary request does not automatically suspend collection. Approval imposes the conditions in the decision, which may differ from your proposal. Review dates, security and non-deferrable amounts together.
Maintain continuing obligations
Compliance status under an effective deferral depends on meeting its conditions. Check every instalment and current contribution. Retain dated evidence linked to the debt reference. If liquidity worsens, review amendment options promptly; unilaterally reducing payments does not replace a revised agreement.
