Digital Tachograph Card in Spain
A Spanish digital tachograph card identifies the driver, company, workshop or control authority when data is recorded and downloaded. We assist with first applications, renewals, replacements and the supporting file before the competent transport authority.
Which tachograph card is required?
Driver cards store the activity of the individual professional driver. Company cards allow an undertaking to lock, access and download data from its vehicle units. Workshop and control cards have separate regulated purposes.
The correct card, issuing authority and documents depend on the applicant's role and habitual residence or company establishment.
Application and renewal
Spain's autonomous communities are responsible for issuing tachograph cards. The national electronic service routes applicants to the competent region and allows supporting documents, corrections and status enquiries.
Identity document and NIE where applicable
Valid driving licence for driver cards
Proof of habitual residence
Photograph and signature where required
Company and representation documents
Payment of the regional fee
Loss, theft, malfunction or damaged cards
A replacement should be requested promptly. The driver must also comply with the special printout and manual-record rules that apply while the card cannot be used.
We help distinguish renewal, replacement, exchange and modification procedures and prepare the explanation and evidence requested by the authority.
Downloads, analysis and file custody
Possessing a valid card does not complete the employer's compliance duties. Driver-card and vehicle-unit data must be downloaded, retained and made available for inspection at the applicable intervals.
We coordinate download monitoring, infringement analysis and secure custody of tachograph files.
Driving-time and rest compliance
Tachograph records are assessed together with EU driving-time, break and rest rules. Missing entries, incorrect manual additions, overdue downloads and inconsistent records can lead to penalties for drivers and undertakings.
Useful official resources
Official requirements, fees and procedures can change. The competent authority and current rules are checked for each individual case.
